Western Sounds
The silence that reaches over the landscape is broken only by the wind
The sound is right there until it’s not
I hear it when I’m driving as the wind whips the roof racks, whistling
I hear it coming off the ocean, making it’s way through tiny holes in the rocks.
In the early morning light below the ranges
In the warm summer evenings by the sea
In the harsh midday sun at the side of the highway
In the small country towns were the post office is the grocery store and the local cafe
It’s the sound that follows me everywhere I go
And I bet you can hear it too
It's a song …
and the road that takes you there
